Trump-Backing CNN Contributor Jeffrey Lord: KKK Had A ‘Progressive Agenda’

BY AARON RUPAR MAR 1, 2016 11:45 PM

During a heated exchange that came on the heels of Donald Trump’s Super Tuesday victory press conference, Trump-backing CNN contributor Jeffrey Lord attempted to turn the tables on those who are criticizing Trump for not more aggressively disavowing his endorsement from former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke.

Lord’s comments came after progressive commentator Van Jones criticized Trump for dog whistling about race, saying, “When [Trump] is playing funny with the Klan, that is not cool.”

“When you talk about terrorism, [Trump] gets passionate, he says, ‘No, this is wrong.’ When you talk about the Klan, ‘Oh, I don’t know, I don’t know,'” Jones continued. “You came on the air and said this is just like when Reverend [Jeremiah] Wright was speaking. Reverend Wright never lynched anybody, never killed anybody.”

In response, Lord, who last year characterized Trump’s comment that Mexicans illegally crossing the border are “rapists” as “exactly right if deeply politically incorrect,” tried to connect the KKK with the Democratic Party.

“Don’t hide and say that’s not part of the base of the Democratic Party,” Lord said. “They were the military arm, the terrorist arm of the Democratic Party, according to historians. For God’s sake read your history.”

Lord went on to suggest the KKK used to kill black people “to further the progressive agenda.”

But Jones retorted by suggesting Lord was trying to obfuscate the Republican Party’s race problem by making explosive claims about the past.

“First off, that is so absurd,” Jones said. “That’s not the Democratic Party of today, so what are you talking about that for?… You play these games.”

Lord has used his role at CNN to defend Trump and peddle debunked research about undocumented immigrants — practices that have resulted in him being repeatedly criticized by Media Matters for America.

As it turns out, the KKK was very deeply intertwined with the Democrat party, so it's not unfair to characterize it as a "progressive" organization.  The fact that Trump hesitated to disavow an endorsement from the KKK simply demonstrates that his primary alliance is to progressive causes.

Thanks for the commentary.  I knew another poster here once named "Oceander" who used to overuse the word "disavow."

He disavowed 100 times! Prior to this flap, after the flap, on Twitter, on radio and TV, in interviews, at rallies. He just didn't in that one gotcha moment – in that one lapse where Trump misspoke. And that's giving you all the excuse you needed to scream white supremacist.

Let's review what you have: the race card. Straight out of the liberal playbook, the race card.

Anyway, your statement above is inaccurate.

And you know, the last thing I would want to do is introduce a dark note but, your conclusion branding Trump a progressive is simply ludicrous. Trump is not an ideologue. He's a practical man from outside government who possesses excellent negotiating and organizational skills which he will put to use for America, and who builds amazing skyscrapers around the world. He's smart and tough, but he just don't talk too good for political snobs.

I think Trump would make a great president. Now if you'll excuse me, suddenly I feel like a shower.

Bumped in order to put this defamatory lie to rest.

The GOPe (Rubio) is employing leftist tactics and seem to be working with liberal plants on our forum (you know who you are) to disrupt and fracture base support for the republican front runner.

This can only end badly for Republicans, conservatives and libertarians. We must maintain a united front and stop eating our own. Or, be prepared to hear, "Yes, Madam President."

Remember, the only talk of a third-party is coming from the GOPe. Think about that.

I think what you may be missing is that the GOPe prefers "Madam President" over Trump or Cruz because that way they all keep their same spot on the government trough.  Trump isn't beholden to these large donors, and it scares the hell out of them as well as their connected minions.

Hell Jazzhead is literally and openly advocating HRC as President if Trump is the GOP nominee. This happening on a "conservative" site, and the other TDSers have yet to shout him down because their vision is so clouded by disdain for Trump and Trump supporters.
