I fully agree with this.

And I would add that I'm done with labels.  Especially the "conservative" label.  Conservatives, such as the Sainted Mark Levin,  cost us the election in 2012 by beating Romney absolutely bloody in the primaries because Romney wasn't pure enough.  Even on election day, Mark was so full of himself he didn't even try to rally any remaining voters in his listening area.  Mark Levin gave us four more years of Obama.

Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh, too, are repeating this mistake.  They will beat the hell out Donald Trump --- the one candidate who appeals across all boundaries --- because he doesn't meet their myopic vision of a Republican president.  They are going to willfully ignore what Trump CAN accomplish for this nation and how badly these accomplishments are needed.  Conservative talk show gurus are once again on track to costing America the leader she needs--right now.

I'm finding it more and more difficult to forgive this.
You are talking about the fact the AM radio talk show people get rich keeping listeners ENTERTAINED with drama; Limbo, Levin, Beck etc.

Ye the GOP has lost the popular vote 5 of the last 6 times during this flourishing period of "conservative" talk radio.

Michael Smerconish speaks to this. I coined the term "narrow but loud," which I stick by.

I am fortunate to not vote until June. Regardless of who the GOP nominates, I expect the loss of both the Presidency and the Senate majority.

I am guilty of being attracted to the novelty of Trump, but I also realize he is pushing voters away.

Just curious....

If Trump was/is saying the EXACTsame things but the only difference is he had a D after his name, would you be supporting him...remember you have all agreed with what he has said up until now.

EXCELLENT question!

This is why I have left the GOP..I am a Conservative without a Party.....but I have to remain a Repub if I want to vote in Il primaries. **nononono*

I may be wrong, but I honestly think the "great minds" that run the RNC would be genuinely shocked at how few actual Republicans today are "Party People" that will blindly follow any ticket with a Big Red R on it's chest.

I think they may be waking up now, though.

Then let him run as an independent.  His stink has no place in the GOP.

Sorry, but I am having a hard time visualizing anyplace that has more stink than the GOP.

Bush,Bush,McLunatic,Romney, and now the establishment is pushing JEB and/or Rubio?

4 day old fish stinks less than that.

And they wonder why TRUMP is leading. :patriot:

http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/02/16/incredible-moment-after-protest-disruption-donald-trump-calls-two-brave-audience-members-to-stage/

What I find hilarious is the GOP establishment and the GOP Party People are honestly shocked that any candidate can run promoting actual conservative values without even having a plan to do the things he says he wants to do,and actually end up absolutely burying the GOP establishment candidates.

Given that Trump is about as unlikeable as any candidate that has ever ran,is a ego maniac and narcissist, brags about being a Billionaire instead of a "common man",and pretty much says anything that comes to mind and is STILL burying them in the polls, some of them have to be getting a little suicidal by now. If this becomes a trend, they will have to start openly supporting the Dim candidates if they want to see their policies become law.

I'd support Trump in a minute if I actually thought he meant anything he has been saying.

I forgot to answer the rest of your question, Myst.

If Trump was saying that we need to build a wall so that we can monitor who comes into our country, and saying that we need to hold off on refugees coming in from problematic areas of the world until we can get a handle on what kind of loyalties they may harbor, and if he was saying that we need to stop the blood loss of jobs to China and other countries that don't have to play on the same playing field as companies do here - and if he was saying that the deal we made with Iran was one of the stupidest things we've ever done -

 - and if he was saying that he would repeal Obamacare and open up competition between state lines for people to buy competitively priced private insurance tailored to their needs and that we would have a system so that poor people would still get necessary healthcare -

 - and if he was saying that he would root out waste and fraud in our government......

...and the Republican guy was being backed by big money donors that are promoting globalism and open borders - while talking about reaching across an aisle that never reaches back, blah, blah, blah.

Then YES - I would vote for him even if he had a (D) next to his name!

I am truly a RINO - a Republican in name only.  Only a Republican in name because it's the only way I can vote in the primary system.  I'm no longer proud to wear that label.   **nononono*

When smart, educated people quote Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck as gospel.....it's more than entertainment.  It's destructive---- because they bring about the very outcomes they claim to be against.  And they do it over and over and over again.

With a "-d" behind his name?

Nah.... I'm not votin' for no democrats no mo'.

But that guy Trump?

Ain't he sumthin', like a bull ragin' around in the China shop, smashin' up everything in sight?

Now THAT'S what I like to see!

...The destruction of the false, corrupt, compromised edifice of American übergovernment that has been constructed brick by brick, law by law, executive order by executive order, and (last but not least) regulation by regulation over the last forty years.
As the song went, "All in all, just another brick in the wall".

And if The Donald can succeed in knockin' down at least some of those bricks, he's the kind of guy I'll vote for.

...

I'd support Trump in a minute if I actually thought he meant anything he has been saying.

It comes down to how you want to "gamble" sneakypete.  There are no guarantees with any of them.

One can gamble on:
- one of the other candidates in the race,
- letting the chips fall where they may by not participating in the Presidential election in November, or
- Trump.

This time around I am willing to gamble on Trump; if he is able to accomplish in 4 years, 1/2 of what he is talking about, I will be satisfied.

Do you think the other politicians that are running mean what they say?  I used to fall for it, but they've lied to me so many times - I'm just not buying it anymore.

Pink Floyd, one of the greatest and most creative bands of all time. Another Brick in the Wall was both a song title and album title for a double album by them that had record sales. Probably came out in the early 80's.

I usually describe them as playing "Blues from the 25 th Century.

IIRC,that song was  was in reference to English schoolchildren being taught to think like robots and be "just another brick in the wall" instead of thinking for themselves and being creative.

I know, but I am awful damn tired of Lucy pulling that football away from meevery time, just as I kick it. Going on past record,Trump is the most unreliable and dishonest creature in politics, and that's saying something.

I am leaning towards Cruz because I think he is mostly conservative, but it remains to be seen how much pressure is going to be applied to him bY tje RNC as the campaign goes along, and if he yields to it. IF he does as I think he will do and stands tall in front of the Bill of Rights,he's got my vote and maybe even some of my money. If he fails to do that,I will go to the polls and leave the Presidential box unchecked and go back home, content that I have done my duty as a citizen and voted for people I actually want to see in public office who I believe will protect the Bill of Rights.

I will NOT vote for the lesser of two evils under ANY circumstances. That's the kind of crap that has put us where we are today, and it has to stop or we will never have any actual conservative candidates to vote for.

If I am wrong and you are right and Trump wins and governs like someone who is conservative,I will happily admit you are right, and congradulate you while apologizing for doubting your wisdom.

Sometimes being wrong is a good thing.

Why wouldn't I answer What's to be afraid of?

I am leaning strongly towards supporting Cruz. If I don't vote for him,I don't see me voting for any presidential candidate this cycle.

Thanks sneakypete, I agree with much of what you said.  (Cruz was the *only* candidate that I was willing to consider at the start of 2015.)
