Seasick Steve doesn't spend a lot of money on guitars. This one is made from two Morris Minor hubcaps and a broom stick.

@sneakypete
It sounds good, I'll try to listen to more of this. Very talented.

@TomSea

I honestly had no idea that was even possible with a violin until I stumbled across that one by accident.

Here is the original if you want to compare the two. The actual song starts a little after the 1 minute mark. Up to that time they are just tuning and talking to one another.

There is even a video of Funkadelic playing it with Lili Haydn playing it together onstage here.

Tim Morgon, at The Prison of Socrates, Balboa California circa 1964

He was hugely popular in SoCal for a few years. Talented, handsome, decent fellow. He was doing the folk music style, and at the same time the Instrumental Surf Music style was popular, too. People like that, got "bumped" by the British Invasion, and by new performers like The Byrds, Mama's and Papas, and a bunch of folks descending on Hollywood's live music scene.

@sneakypete

At this rate, all of the closed music threads will take up page 1 here; maybe they are purged after a few weeks or put in one thread if possible or maybe move them to a back page after a week.

@mystery-ak

Maybe Nancy can arrange them by week,then month,and then year? Click on 2017,click on the month,click on the week,and then click on the day in the archives?
The Sun-Sat format can remain for weekly posts and each day can be logged into that month and year once it's locked?

Just a suggestion. If anyone else can come up with a better plan,let's see it.

This is very good, better than the Kingston Trio's version imho.  I listened to a few other songs by him. I also see that song "The Far Side of the Hill" is a standard sung by countless artists, (all of this other is just exta) it must be a folk music standard. Hoyt Axton sings a very good version. Hoyt Axton wrote a few songs I think are outstanding including "Greenback Dollar", sung by countless artists including Jim Croce. This version takes after the Kingston Trio's version.
