There are 4 options for president, 3 of them are bad
By Steve Deace - - Tuesday, January 26, 2016

This is an Isaiah 1:5 election.

Where would you yet be struck, that you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, the whole heart faint.

For example, courtesy of a story in last week's Washington Post:

"One Republican-aligned business figure says some GOP elites will prefer Trump to Cruz because Trump 'has no obvious core political values,' as if this is a positive, in that it makes it more likely that Trump will deal with them. One Republican donor says: 'in the middle of the campaign a lot of people say things that they think are going to help them get elected.' Another donor says that while he finds Trump's demagoguery to be wretched, that's overshadowed by the fact that Trump is the only contender with the 'entrepreneurial spirit' to solve our country's 'big problems.' "

May the Iowa caucus goers yet to make up their mind about who they will support on Feb. 1 be paying attention, because that is nothing short of vomitus. Unsurprising, yes, but still vomitus.

With friends like those in the Republican Party, who needs the Ebola virus? Their fetid moral compass actually makes Bernie Sanders drift into semi-legitimacy. But then you remember Bernie's not just playing a socialist on television like Trump is pretending to be a new age Paul Revere. Sanders actually thinks your money doesn't belong to you unless it is first laundered by the government through the cleansing prism of the Little Red Book.

So Trump thinks you are nothing more than a cog in the machine and Bernie Sanders thinks you are perpetually in debt to the machine. Now for Hillary Clinton, whose delusions of grandeur have convinced her after years and years of suck-ups and sellouts that she actually is the machine.

That's why she is incapable of letting go of her political life after so many public failures, frauds, felonies (allegedly) and embarrassments. There is, quite simply, nothing to let go of for her short of ceasing to exist. Politics is her oxygen. It is her food source. It is her way-too-expensive shrink.

Resistance was supposed to be futile. Hillary is the comi-tragic version of the Borg, so why won't you stubborn Americans just give in and be assimilated already? She's literally been lying to you in order to win your approval since Watergate, and it's growing harder and harder to figure out ways to sell her soul.

Oh wait, she found another one. While being questioned Monday about her faith at a campaign event, Clinton said a person's faith should be humble, focused on charity and mercy while "judgment should be left to God."

Mercy, huh? Tell that to the innocent dismembered babies sold for profit by Planned Parenthood. And leave the judgment to God, except when talking about vast right-wing conspiracies and fake wars on women, right? All of this must be what the Des Moines Register meant when it called Hillary "down to earth."

Seriously. They really wrote that.

Trump. Bernie. Hillary. This is where we are—the unholy confluence of 'total-joke-you've got-to-be-kidding-me' and 'drop-dead-serious-perhaps-hope-is-lost'. And that is exactly what we deserve.

We have been a stiff-necked people for far too long to not have risked such a rendezvous with destiny. We are being weighed, measured, and thus have often been found deeply wanting. Now the political correctness that is born of our increasingly pagan soup has convinced some that Trump is actually the antidote to this state of affairs instead of a symptom of it.

But Trump only knows the answers to questions that tickle his ambitions, and if those answers line up with your cares it is but accidental or a manipulation. What genuine care could a man possibly have for the people at large, if his very own selling point is that he could shoot somebody in the middle of the street and not lose a single vote?

There was a mob villain in the movie "Batman Begins" named Carmine Falcone that thought as Trump does. When a young pre-Batman Bruce Wayne confronted him in a bar, it went down like this:

Bruce Wayne: I came here to show you that not everyone in Gotham's afraid of you.
Carmine Falcone: Only those who know me, kid. Look around you: you'll see two councilmen, a union official, a couple off-duty cops, and a judge. [points a gun at Bruce]
Carmine Falcone: Now, I wouldn't have a second's hesitation of blowing your head off right here and right now in front of 'em. Now, that's power you can't buy! That's the power of fear.
Bruce Wayne: I'm not afraid of you.

Too much? Depends on if you are sick and tired of watching your country bleed out, I guess. Yes, Trump took a hammer to the establishment in an important and sometimes entertaining way. However, now that very same establishment is spooning with Trump, because they see what we should. After being given many opportunities to show lasting conservative fruit we are confronted with a clear reality about The Donald:

One political crime family wants to replace another political crime family, and the Art of the Deal is just a front for keeping appearances clean while the city on a hill gets pillaged.

It need not be so. There is still time to light a candle in this darkness, and declare ourselves free to follow the lead of the best chance a real conservative has had to be president since Ronald Reagan.

Ted Cruz has feet of clay just like the rest of us. Yet instead of looting us or mocking us or enabling us to act on our worst instincts, he is encouraging us to unite to return our country to the virtues of American Exceptionalism from whence it came.

Enough with the Benedict Arnolds. How about a George Washington for a change?
