"Ahead of the recent Republican debate, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is the latest Republican to surge behind Donald Trump. There’s a good chance that there’s one question that won’t be asked tonight by the moderators which is, “Why did Cruz miss a very important vote this past week on a bill he co-sponsored?”

This is a Reality Check you won’t see anywhere else!

Personal loan from Goldman Sacks is no big deal. It is a major bank and that's what they do.

I don't like he missed such an important vote but it was not so tight that it would have made any difference. The writing was on the wall for that bill so the vote would have just been symbolic.

From last April.  It got worse after that, politics and all ..

Ted Cruz And Marco Rubio Have Missed The Highest Percentage Of Votes Among Current Senators

..and the amount they missed is actually low compared to other Senators when they ran for President. President Obama missed 64% of his votes, Kerry, 90%, McCain 80.5%.
even the liberal factcheck.org agrees with this.
http://www.factcheck.org/2015/11/senators-missing-votes/

In other words, on balance they both are doing well.  Compare the numbers I posted from Factcheck.org to the Huffpost article that says:

Quote
"Cruz has the highest percentage of total missed votes with 10.4 percent, while Rubio comes in second with 8.2 percent"

In other words, Cruz and Rubio have missed fewer votes by a factor of 10 over what other senators in both parties have when running for President.

...a little more comparison, in the House, Ron Paul missed 92% of his votes when running for President.
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/gop-presidential-primary/220121-ron-paul-has-missed-92-percent-of-votes-in-2012

if memory serves me correctly, he even missed a vote on his own audit the fed bill once.

  • WE are NOT ok!
The statement that Cruz does not vote to audit the Fed is a crock.  The Federal Reserve Transparency Act (audit the fed) has been introduced several times and has not been successful.  Ted Cruz was a co-sponsor of that bill in 2014 and 2015.  The bill was introduced in January, 2015, and referred to committee.  The bill was assigned to a congressional committee, which considered it before sending it on to the House or Senate.  It failed cloture January 12, 2016; in other words it never got past the debate stage to be voted on!

Yep... esp when it's to the husband of a managing director in their Houston office who just happens to be running for the Senate in Texas...

It's what they do...

And will continue to do until there is nothing left in the pantry for them to still want to 'do it.'

Agreed... especially if he paid the loan back.
Now if the loan just got "lost" then there is a problem...

The bill never even met cloture.  Also, keep in mind, that this issue/bill has been circulating (for lack of a better term) since 2013.  Cruz has been a co-sponsor of the bill several times.

Thanks for checking. I should have guessed it was some committee vote and not the actual bill vote.
