US blocks UK Muslim family from boarding plane to Disneyland

By GREGORY KATZ and SYLVIA HUI
Associated Press

LONDON (AP) -- British Prime Minister David Cameron will look into claims that U.S. officials prevented a British Muslim family of 11 from flying to Disneyland for a planned holiday.

The issue is sensitive because U.S. Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has called for a temporary ban on Muslims visiting the U.S. due to concerns about extremist attacks.

Stella Creasy, a member of the opposition Labour Party, said Wednesday that U.S. officials gave no explanation for refusing to allow her constituents to board a flight from Gatwick Airport on Dec. 15, so she wrote Cameron seeking his intervention. She said there is "growing fear" among British Muslims that aspects of Trump's plans are coming into practice even though they have been widely condemned.

A top Muslim group said cases like this appear to be related to religion and are worrying for British Muslims.

Mohammed Zahid Mahmood said he and his family - two brothers and their nine children - were told nothing except that they were not allowed to travel to the U.S. despite having previously obtained clearance.

"We were the only family that was of Asian, Muslim, sort of appearance, and it seemed a little bit embarrassing that only we were taken out (of the line to board)," he told the BBC.

Cameron's office said Wednesday that he would investigate the matter. He had earlier characterized Trump's policy as "divisive and wrong."

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman said the "religion, faith or spiritual beliefs of an international traveler are not determining factors" when deciding if a person can travel to the United States. The spokesman said people can be denied entry for a variety of reasons including health-related issues, prior criminal convictions, security concerns or on miscellaneous grounds.

Ajmal Masroor, a London-based imam and broadcaster, said he received similar treatment when trying to travel to the U.S. for business recently. He told the AP that a U.S. Embassy official prevented him from boarding a Dec. 17 flight and told him his business visa had been revoked. He said he had never had any problem travelling on that visa before.

"I asked him why repeatedly and he said 'You must have done something wrong,' without any explanation," Masroor said.

He said he feared that U.S. officials were singling out Muslims.

"This is absolutely discrimination. It is not acceptable and playing into the hands of the terrorists," Masroor said.

The Muslim Council of Britain also said the last-minute denial of boarding privileges without explanation is distressing for Muslims.

"There is a perception that such decisions are being made due to the faith or political activism of individuals," the council said.

Oh, so this isn't the Obama Administration???  Trump already is in charge, eh?  Trump's plans are "already coming into practice." ???

So these sweet Muslims don't get their Disneyland trip because of Trump???  Really.  Methinks there might be something else happening here that reeks of propaganda.

Why, I'm just amazed...Trump has been elected and we haven't cast a vote yet according to this little vignette from Labour Party in Britain and the British version of CAIR (Obama's peeps across the pond).

Perhaps this Mahmood fellow is not the family man grinding away at the accounting office that they portray here.  Maybe after San Bernardino, the Obama Administration is quietly stepping up their vetting of travelers like this and finding out things that they ignored earlier on...before Americans started dying at the hands of these people.

"There is a perception that such decisions are being made due to the faith or political activism of individuals," the council said."

Oh, so this Mahmood guy is involved in political activism in Britain?  What is he protesting something about the National Health Service, or maybe he's concerned about eminent domain issues?  What's he think about no-go zones and Sharia, eh?

===========================================================

Having survived the extremely uncomfortable gruel and grind of standing hours upon hours in line with many miserable people recently I dare say 'Been there, done that, and WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN.'   And that was just a few weeks ago in OFF SEASON.  If you die in an erect, upright position while at Disney fear not.  You will instantly become a zombie and continue to endlessly walk or stand from the force of the thick crowd of angry people pushing their way through ... angry miserable people.  I can't believe I paid the money I did to stay there a week.

Anyway, if you haven't been there, just picture a photo of the most densely populated and congested train station in India and that is what it is like going to Disney World.  If you don't believe me, just go and find out yourself.  Orlando is not the greatest place to drive either.  There are paid toll road traps enough to make you crazy - you can't avoid them unless you want to get really, really lost at 11:30 at night with a van load of exhausted kids and parents.   I paid over $40 in road tolls just going back and forth from Orlando airport to where we were staying and driving around Orlando to shop and go to Disney.

And talk about RUDE-ASSED people!  Orlando's got 'em.  Just go and see for yourself.  Unless you love being shoved, flipped off, pushed, stared at, and risking your life (already) to walk on a sidewalk or cross the street there you will think you are in Newark or the Bronx.  rude, rude, rude.

As for Disney being a 'target of opportunity' well - duh.  It is the size of a small city and is one of the most concentrated and densest populated spots on earth.

As for 'being singled out.'  If you are Caucasian you WILL be in in the minority.  HALF of every public message in every people mover or while you are standing (for hours and hours ... and hours) are broadcast in SPANISH.  You will suddenly start thinking you are in a foreign country and YOU ARE THE FOREIGNER.

They banned them because they went to same mosque.

Relative of British Muslim father whose family trip to Disneyland was blocked by U.S. officials 'attended the same mosque as extremist behind San Bernardino shootings'

Good points.  Blame it on anybody but the MUSLIM BARACK OBAMA.  Our president is a Muslim.  He has publicly stated he is a Muslim numerous times both in public speeches and eye witness accounts.  Did you get that?  HE IS A MUSLIM.

And guess what, it is no complicated formula to figure out that Muslims hate Christians.  Am I out on a limb here?  Don't think so.

What a mess.  What a sick, sorry-assed country this one has become.  You can't even take your grandchildren or children to a them park without having to worry about them getting blown to pieces while standing in line at 'It's A Small World After All.'

We will 'politically correct' ourselves into oblivion.  Thanks for the update.

Muslim ‘Disneyland Family’ Banned From America: Why Their ‘Islamophobia’ Story Doesn’t Stack Up

It’s been two days since the Guardian broke the ‘Disneyland family’ story; a woeful Christmas tale of American ‘Islamophobia’ and discrimination. An innocent Muslim family cruelly denied entry into the US by Homeland Security scrooges with no good reason, we were told.

Speaking to the Guardian, Mohammad Tariq Mahmood, who was travelling with his brother and nine of their children on a family holiday to Disneyland California, said: “It’s because of the attacks on America – they think every Muslim poses a threat.”

This morning, Labour MP Stella Creasy waded in on the furore, claiming the ‘Disneyland family’ had been “trumped” and calling for a “critique of American Republican primary political positioning”.

Linking the issue to Mr. Trump, anecdotally, she postulated that “a growing number of UK Muslim citizens say they have been similarly treated”, and the BBC believed her.

Ms. Creasy, MP for Walthamstow in East London, perhaps trying to redeem herself with Muslim constituents after voting for action in Syria, wrote a letter to David Cameron demanding action. A Downing Street spokeswoman promptly confirmed the Prime Minister was considering the issues, and would respond in due course.

When a former member of Hizbut al Tahrir – one of the largest global movements for an Islamic caliphate – tweeted her a similar tale of victimhood, she promised to lobby for him to be allowed into the US too.

Sorry to hear this @ShirazMaher – can you let your MP know details so we can pass onto PM? https://t.co/hA5pcuYcdC

    — stellacreasy (@stellacreasy) December 23, 2015

Today, however, it looks as thought the MP and the Guardian might just have jumped the gun.

One of the brothers was interviewed on LBC Radio. He explained that they had left their wives at home and traveled to the airport. “We were waiting in the queue at the gate and we were very close to getting on the plane”, he said.

“Then an announcement said they wanted to speak to Mr. Mohammad. There was no one else of Asian origin or who looked Muslim so I knew it was me.

“A gentleman said he was from British Border Control and he had a border control jacket on… He said there was something wrong with my ESTA [Electronic System for Travel Authorization] and that I wouldn’t be able to board.

“…He finally said they had had a call from Washington DC from homeland security”.

At first, Mr. Mohammad said he had no idea what the call could concern. But, when questioned, he let slip that his brother, “had a scenario 10 years ago when he went to see the holy mosque in Tel Aviv”, presumably referring to the holy mosque in Jerusalem.

“He did not get in any trouble, ” he said, but was detained because “he is a bearded man,” and was only held overnight because the guards did not work on Saturday. His brother’s wife later revealed that the BBC had reported that he had been detained for eight days.

Speaking later on the same show, she said: “My husband travelled to Israel with a couple of other gentlemen; a couple of older gentlemen and a couple of friends”.

She explained that it was “about 8 years ago, before any kind of war or any thing of that kind of nature was going on – you were allowed to travel to Israel”.

However, when pressed, she revealed that her husband was flat out denied entry to the country.

“Same as here, we weren’t given any answer”, she said, postulating: “Probably because there were young lads, they probably thought they were going to, you know, cause havoc or something.”

Unlike on this occasion, after being denied entry into Israel, “he didn’t make a fuss”, she said, and returned straight home.

She never explained why he had traveled there with the “older gentlemen” or group of “lads” and what “havoc” the authorities feared. But, arresting someone for merely “having a beard” is illegal in Israel, and being denied entry into the country not particularly common.

Poor Muslim banned from Disneyland was self-proclaimed 'Taliban supervisor'
By Ed Straker

The liberal media was crying foul when a British Muslim family of ten was suddenly and mysteriously denied permission to travel to America.  All they wanted to do was visit Disneyland!  The liberal media was crying that this poor Muslim family simply wanted an all-American vacation, and they suffered evil discrimination, simply because they were Muslim!

At least, that was the story, until today, when it turns out that one of the banned Muslims said in on Facebook that he was a "Taliban supervisor":

A British Muslim father whose planned Disneyland trip was ruined when he and his family were barred from boarding a flight to the U.S. has now been forced to distance himself from a Facebook account claiming links to Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

Mohammad Tariq Mahmood, 41, his brother and their children, aged between eight and 19, said they were stopped at the departure gate at Gatwick airport and told their visas to the US had been revoked.

He claimed the family were barred from flying 'because they are Muslim'.

However, it has since emerged that a Facebook page claiming links to radical Islamist groups was set up by someone who has lived at the family's postal address, according to ITV News.

The account, which includes information suggesting it may have been published as a joke, was in the name of Hamza Hussain - a first name shared by Mr Mahmood's 18-year-old son. It reportedly lists the job titles 'supervisor at Taliban and leader at al-Qaeda'.

When asked about the account, Mr Mahmood believed hackers may have been to blame, adding: 'That could be anything, maybe a mistake.'

The Facebook page in question also had an FBI logo with some Arabic writing and the slogan "Federal Bureau of Islam" underneath it.

Mr Mahmood's sister-in-law Sadaf Mahmood later told LBC radio that her husband was detained overnight in Israel before being put on a plane back to Britain, but the reason was never explained to them.

Mr Mahmood, who was born in Pakistan, came to the UK when he was just 12, when his father came to work as a chartered accountant.

He said of last week's incident: 'I felt humiliated and my kids were tearful they were so upset. My son hasn't left the house, he is so upset.'

[This event] comes after an imam who says he has preached against extremism and has previously travelled to the US was also prevented from boarding a flight in similar circumstances.

This suits me.  Maybe it was a joke on their part, but maybe it wasn't – why take a chance?  People who are unsympathetic to the Taliban certainly wouldn't make a "joke" like that.  The father's explanation that maybe his account was "hacked" sounds like Anthony Weiner's lame excuse for sending pictures of his "schlong"  (thanks, Donald, for adding this word to our public vocabulary!) to non-wife female supporters.  Maybe it was hacked?  Does that mean that also maybe it wasn't?

I don't know about you, but when I go to Disneyland, I don't want to be mingling with any Taliban mid-level management.  If I brought kids there, I wouldn't want to see Mickey Mouse suddenly decapitated, or Goofy (whose sexuality was always ambiguous) thrown from the top of the Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Expect more Muslims to cry racism when they are denied boarding passes, even when they do so obvious a thing as to go online and express their love for radical Islam.  Also expect most of the American media to do zero examination of the circumstances of their banning and instead immediately cry racism.

Honestly, I was constantly praying to God that nothing would happen when we were there just a few weeks ago.  Those poor 'security checkpoints' at DN are a joke, but to do proper screening it would close the place down due to people having to stand in line FOR HOURS JUST TO GET IN.

I was never 'comfortable' for one second, and it wasn't due to just having to endure the mass of people surrounding me and my loved ones every second either.

So, how long will it take before they all are invited to the WH for an official apology from Obama?
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

===================================================

Disney Inc. is in a bit of a political bind here, for sure.

On the one hand, if Obama invites them to the WH for an apology, it cause the world to ask the reason "WHY?" did (POSSIBLE) muslim terrorists have to be apologized to for (POSSIBLY) going to DW as 'tourists.'

On the other hand, Disney has to weigh the financial fallout/loss of this ever coming to light in the general public due to the 'PERCEPTION OF' that 'bad people' want to go to DW and do 'bad things' to good people.

A big lose for Disney either way.

I know I will never go back there.

Of course, the other aspect of this is, "hey, the checking system works." Not that that is any good for forwarding a narrative.

Its a joke.  Have you been there recently?

Checkpoint guards get maybe xxx number of hours in what kind of substandard degree of professionalism or real-world experience to be able to really find any harmful stuff.

Its a joke.  A bad one.

Been to both Disneyland and Disneyworld several times, on business outing, or vacation for the kids.

Had a miserable time. It is never something I would do voluntarily just for me.

But you should know that there are levels of Disney experience. If you are rich and famous, it is quite lavish and wonderful. But, as just another ordinary tourist, it is more of a pain in the butt than it is fun.

But, it is something you do to say you've done it, and it's not so bad.
