I understand you're a one issue voter. And that's a very important issue.

However, I think there is at least a chance Trump will not do all the things the Democrats want. Cruz is the only other candidate that even registers on the scale when using that criteria.

I'm not even CLOSE to being a 'one issue voter.'  Just because the life of the unborn is the primary issue to me, doesn't mean I don't have deep principles on many, many other issues.

The problem is that the Trump who existed before this campaign doesn't agree with ANY of my conservative principles.

How he, a Progressive, is supposed to be the answer to fighting the Democrats, is beyond me.....

As a matter of fact, yes, Trump DID say in the first debate that single payer works:

Quote
As far as single payer, it works in Canada. It works incredibly well in Scotland. It could have worked in a different age, which is the age you're talking about here.

Talk to Canadians about whether or not single payer works "incredibly well."

Here's the transcript of a little dialogue between Trump and Letterman (Jan. 8, 2015).....

Letterman, recounting how cheap it is to treat injuries abroad: "In one case, I had my arm reattached and at the end of the procedure ... it was like $12 dollars!"

Trump: "A friend of mine was in Scotland recently. He got very, very sick. They took him by ambulance and he was there for four days. He was really in trouble and they released him and he said, ‘Where do I pay?’ And they said, ‘There’s no charge.’ Not only that, he said it was like great doctors, great care. I mean we could have a great system in this country."

Letterman: "Are people afraid of socialism?"

Trump: "Well, people are afraid of a lot of things. But it’s mostly incompetence. … How do you spend $5 billion on a website, just the creation of the site itself, and it doesn’t work?  … There are things you could do to give unbelievable healthcare and a much better healthcare system. It’s a complicated topic, unfortunately."

This is one of many, many quotes where Donald Trump supports single payer, government health care.

As I said, you may choose to believe the campaigner Trump, but the reality of his positions is quite different.

(And if you call me a liar again, this conversation is over).
Character still matters.  It always matters.

For me right now I want the man who will have a chance to beat hil.  If Trump is higher in the polls (and we take a chance believing those polls at times) then I want Trump. If it is Cruz, who I like the best, then I will vote for him. Musiclady, for me nothing is worse than having Hillary in the White House.

My husband has been in health care for 40 years, and is as conservative as the day is long, and he knows in great depth what a mess Canada is in.

If anyone thinks Trump doesn't support single payer, and that he hasn't said so recently, they are deluding themselves.

With a principled conservative like Cruz.  Not an unprincipled Progressive like Trump.

My father had heart problems when visiting Canada. It was a horror story. They kept him on a gurney for days in the hallway before anyone treated him. He wasn't the only one on gurneys in the hallway either.

Again.  What he says on the subject matters.

Though apparently not to you.......

(And if you actually HEAR him say the words, loud and clear, it's not "hearsay."   **nononono*)

I know.  A friend's father had his surgery delayed so long that it cost him his life.

Canada's health care system is a disaster when it comes to what really counts.

Let see the GOPe just voted to fully fund Planned Parenthood so they can continue their barbaric practices at taxpayer expense.

At a press conference in NH when a highly combative Leftists challenged him on the "War on women" meme, Trump quite calmly and clearly stated "I am pro-Life by the way".

Those are 2 actual facts to consider as opposed to hear say evidence.

One of the unfortunate things we face is that a large part of the private sector in America - nearly all of the large corporate sector - supports single payer for the rather myopic reason that it fobs off a major cost for them onto the government. Private enterprise, at least the medium to large size employers, are not our allies here. They see this as a hot potato to toss to a different set of hands.

The articles about people dying in that system used to be all over msm. It stopped about some time ago. Cannot have the real truth come over here about single payer and why NOW types want it.

Given what the Fed has been doing the last 8 years, quantitative easing, that is no longer the case, unfortunately.
