Powerball Winner Behind Bars For Battering Cop

MAY 1--Days after claiming a $167.3 million Powerball jackpot, a Kentucky man is behind bars, charged with kicking a cop in the face during a melee at an oceanfront hotel in Florida, The Smoking Gun has learned.

According to court records, James Farthing, a 50-year-old ex-convict, was arrested Tuesday evening on felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with a fracas at the TradeWinds Resort in St. Pete Beach.

Farthing was at the resort with Jacqueline Fightmaster, his 42-year-old girlfriend. As seen in the above photo, Farthing and Fightmaster appeared Tuesday at a Kentucky Lottery press conference announcing the Powerball win (which Farthing is splitting with his 77-year-old mother).

Farthing, who won the April 26 Powerball drawing, purchased the winning ticket from Clark’s Pump-N-Shop in Georgetown, a city 15 miles north of Lexington.

On Tuesday evening--one day after posing with an oversized “Jackpot Winner” check--Farthing punched a male victim in the face during an argument at the TradeWinds, cops say. Subsequent to that alleged battery, a sheriff’s deputy sought to break up “an in progress fight between [Farthing] and another patron.”

Police in Osaka have arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to steal women’s underwear from a laundromat.

According to police, Mitsuru Toyonaga, who is self-employed, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to steal four pieces of women's underwear from a dryer at a laundromat in Miyakojima Ward at around 8 p.m. on May 8, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Japanese men are obsessed with female panties, especially from underage schoolgirls. However despite the myth, there are no pantie vending machines in Japan.

Odd thing is he was stealing panties from the dryer. Wouldn't that cancel the entire point? From the dryer all he is going to smell is laundry detergent and fabreze. I guess the guy just loved panties, with or without the female component? Some kind of fashion critic I guess?

A student has fallen to her death after she unclipped her safety belt while parasailing.

Tijana Radonjic, 19, was on holiday in Budva, Montenegro, when she plunged into the Adriatic Sea after flying at a height of 50 metres.

Despite emergency services rushing to find her, they confirmed she had died last Wednesday.

Harrowing footage of Ms Radnjic, from Novi Sad, Serbia, which MailOnline has chosen not to publish, showed her distressed in her parasailing seat.

She tries to pull herself up on the two straps on the side but then unbuckles the seatbelt and jacket.

The teen then twists around in her seat before tipping upside down and falls through the leg braces.

Horrified spectators on the beach are said to have heard Tijana screaming just moments before the fall: 'Put me down! Put me down!'.

Local outlet Republika said others heard her shout 'help me'.

2 people killed on the Las Vegas Strip over a "conflict" that started over social media, according to police.

According to ABC 13, the incident allegedly stemmed from a conflict between social media personalities "Sin City Manny" and "Finny Da Legend."

Sin City Manny filmed himself driving around Las Vegas, apparently looking for "Finny" shortly before the incident. ...
