In May, Yale University was hit by a shocking stabbing and suicide involving recent graduate and conservative activist Tyler Carlisle and his friend, undergraduate Alexander Michaud. At the time, few details were known about the mysterious incident which ended with Michaud being stabbed and Carlisle committing suicide.

However, newly released documents from the New Haven Police Department reveal the friends participated in a threesome with another undergraduate that went wrong. According to Gawker, a police incident report reveals the woman they were with allegedly gave Michaud more attention during the threesome, causing Carlisle to stab his friend in the neck and then jumping to his death from the 9th floor.

The new information was reportedly known by those closest to the pair of Manchester, New Hampshire natives, but was not reported by the press. Both men were members of the Yale's Party of the Right, with mutual friends "unaware of anything but friendship and intellectual camaraderie" between the two.

When questioned by reporters, authorities said they had "a pretty strong sense" of what had occurred but decided to remain quiet until the investigation was completed, The Washington Post reported. The Post spoke to a close female friend of Carlisle's after the incident, who said: "The people who need to know will or already do know. I can't even express how much anguish would be avoided if the press would leave us our privacy."
