Leaves centuries of Catholic teaching behind

Negating the Catholic ideal of "subsidiarity," the idea that lower levels of government are best placed to handle problems, Pope Francis is set to call for a global super authority to deal with climate change, according to leaked drafts of his global warming encyclical due out later this week.
Britain's left-wing Guardian noted that Pope Francis is calling for changes in lifestyle to stop climate change and for new powers to be handed over to global structures:
Francis also called for a new global political authority tasked with “tackling … the reduction of pollution and the development of poor countries and regions”. His appeal echoed that of his predecessor, pope Benedict XVI, who in a 2009 encyclical proposed a kind of super-UN to deal with the world’s economic problems and injustices.
In addition to his call for a new one world government, Pope Francis is also under fire for relying on the work of a man who is quite at odds with Catholic teaching to help him craft his encyclical.
While the Catholic Church maintains the biblical exhortation to go forth and multiply, a key figure in helping develop the pope's thinking on his global warming teaching is a scientist who says the world has too many people.
German scientist Hans Joachim Schellnhuber is one of the key people Francis is said to have consulted. His work has come under fire lately for advocating a smaller population for the planet.
