Washington (CNN)Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will no longer be in attendance at President Barack Obama's meetings with Arab leaders from the Gulf Cooperation Council this week.

The late change of plans, could be seen as a snub to Obama, coming just four days before the start of two days of sessions beginning Wednesday and culminating in a Camp David summit on Thursday.

"We first learned of the King's possible change of plans from the Saudis on Friday night," said a senior administration official. "This was confirmed by the Saudis on Saturday. We coordinated closely with our Saudi partners on the alternate arrangement and timing of the announcement, and look forward to welcoming Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman."

The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in a statement acknowledged the King's absence was "due to the timing of the summit, the scheduled humanitarian ceasefire in Yemen and the opening of the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid."

Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition launching air strikes against the Houthi rebels which have gained control of much of Yemen.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayed will now lead the Saudi delegation in his place, which will also include Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The shuffle comes after the White House announced on Friday that the King would not only be in attendance but would also have a one-on-one meeting with Obama.

On Friday, White House deputy press secretary Eric Schultz told reporters King Salman was to meet with the President on Wednesday at the White House, ahead of an expanded dinner with the other leaders of the Gulf states.

The White House is downplaying the significance of the change

Might this be a message to Obama, for coddling Iran and making deals?

Combine it with the sudden change in the Saudi preference to let other people get their hands dirty and it's a huge change in focus. And a rather large FU to the Worm.

Obama is the bastard child of a whore. He will screw anybody, any time, for any reason. And he knows he has fu*ked over Saudi Arabia, after they gave him that gold medal and everything (which he has probably pawned for weed by now).

Black people do not trust Black people. Because they know them. And, Muslims do not trust Muslims. Because they know them.

Obama has made some very serious enemies, domestic and foreign. I am not sure I would want to be in his shoes.

The way he is going, he is going to have all enemies who want to kill him, and not a single ally that wants to defend or help him.

Beware the ides of March.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

Saudi King Salman Skipping Obama's Camp David Summit

Sunday, May 10, 2015 06:29 PM

By: Greg Richter and Newsmax Wires

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Saudi Arabia's King Salman will not attend a Camp David summit of U.S. and allied Arab leaders, his foreign minister, Adel al-Jubeir, said Sunday.

The New York Times described the king's decision not to attend as an apparent signal of his displeasure with the United States over Iran, a growing regional enemy to Saudi Arabia.

The Associated Press, however, reported that the White House did not take Salman's decision to skip the summit as a sign of any substantial disagreement with the United States.

"If one wants to snub you, they let you know it in different ways," an unnamed administration official told the Times.

Reuters quoted an  unnamed senior U.S. official saying the monarch's decision to skip the summit was "not in response to any substantive issue."

"We first learned of the king's possible change of plans from the Saudis on Friday night," the official said.

In a statement, al-Jubeir said the summit Thursday coincides with a humanitarian cease-fire in the conflict in Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition is fighting Shiite rebels known as Houthis. He said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, who is also interior minister, would lead the Saudi delegation and the king's son, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is defense minister, will also attend.

President Barack Obama had planned to meet Salman one-on-one a day before the gathering of leaders at the presidential retreat.

The king, who took power in January after his brother King Abdullah died, has not traveled abroad since his ascension to the throne.

As recently as Friday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest was saying the Saudi king would attend the meeting to "resume consultations on a wide range of regional and bilateral issues." Sources say military cooperation is the central focus of the talks.

According to Arab officials quoted by the Times, Salman's decision not to attend is seen as a signal he is unhappy with what the United States has offered as assurances that America will protect its Arab allies again Iran.

The recent framework nuclear agreement with Iran that allows the country to become a nuclear state within 10 years was not well received by its Arab countries, which fear a nuclear Iran will attempt its own form of Muslim caliphate in the region.

At the summit, leaders of Gulf nations will be looking for assurance that Obama has their support when the region feels under siege from Islamic extremists and Syria, Iraq and Yemen are in various states of chaos. Arab allies also feel threatened by Iran's rising influence and worry the nuclear pact taking shape with the United States, Iran and other nations may embolden Tehran to intrude more aggressively in countries of the region.

Jon Alterman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said the action was definitely a snub, though he said it can also be a blessing for the administration.

"It holds within it a hidden opportunity, because senior U.S. officials will have an unusual opportunity to take the measure of Mohammed bin Salman, the very young Saudi defense minister and deputy crown prince, with whom few have any experience," Alterman told the Times.

"For the White House though, it sends an unmistakable signal when a close partner essentially says he has better things to do than go to Camp David with the president, just a few days after the White House announced he’d have a private meeting before everything got underway," he said.

Material from The Associated Press and Reuters was used in preparing this report.

Along with Saudi King, Most Gulf Rulers to Skip US Summit
Monday, May 11, 2015 07:53 AM

By: By ADAM SCHRECK

It is not just the Saudi king who will be skipping the Camp David summit of U.S. and allied Arab leaders. Most Gulf heads of state won't be there.

The absences will put a damper on talks that are designed to reassure key Arab allies, and almost certainly reflect dissatisfaction among leaders of the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council with Washington's handling of Iran and what they expect to get out of the meeting.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir announced late on Sunday that newly installed King Salman will not be attending. The ostensible reason was because the upcoming summit on Thursday coincides with a humanitarian cease-fire in the conflict in Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition is fighting Shiite rebels known as Houthis.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, who is also interior minister, will lead the Saudi delegation and the king's son, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is defense minister, will also attend.

President Barack Obama had planned to meet King Salman one-on-one a day before the gathering of leaders at the presidential retreat but the White House did not take his decision to skip the summit as a sign of any substantial disagreement with the United States.

The king, who took power in January after his brother King Abdullah died, has not traveled abroad since his ascension to the throne.

The tiny island kingdom of Bahrain said separately that its delegation would be headed by the country's crown prince, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Bahrain, whose leadership has close ties to the Saudis, is an important military ally of the U.S. It is the longstanding host to the Navy's 5th Fleet, which is responsible for operations around the Arabian Peninsula and northern Indian Ocean, and is Washington's main naval counterbalance to Iran.

At the summit, leaders of Gulf nations will be looking for assurances that they have Obama's support at a time when the region feels under siege from Islamic extremists and by Iran's rising influence. The Gulf states worry the nuclear pact taking shape with the U.S., Iran and other nations may embolden Tehran to intrude more aggressively in the region.

Abdulkhaleq Abdullah, a professor of political science at Emirates University, said Gulf leaders were staying away to signal their displeasure over the nuclear talks.

"I don't think they have a deep respect, a deep trust for Obama and his promises. There is a fundamental difference between his vision of post-nuclear-deal Iran and their vision," he said. "They think Iran is a destabilizing force and will remain so, probably even more, if the sanctions are lifted. ... They're just not seeing things eye to eye."

The sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said, is among those staying away. The sultanate will be represented instead by the deputy prime minister, Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, and other officials, the country's official news agency announced.

The sultan's absence comes as little surprise. The long-serving monarch, whose country maintains cordial relations with Iran and has served as a go-between for Tehran and Washington, returned home in March after spending several months in Germany being treated for an undisclosed illness.

Health issues are also expected to keep the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, from attending. He suffered a stroke in January last year and has not been seen publicly since.

Crown Prince Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president's half-brother, held talks with Obama at the White House last month and is expected to lead the Emirati delegation.

Abdullah, the Emirati professor, said the Gulf ties with the United States remain strong, but they have been strained during Obama's tenure.

He said Obama is seen within the region as impersonal compared to his predecessors. He also noted that recent comments to The New York Times in which Obama warned that dissatisfaction at home was perhaps a bigger threat than Iran came across as unnecessary "lecturing."

"You just pre-empted the whole meeting with this kind of statement," he said.

Among those who will be at the summit is the Kuwaiti emir, Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah. He arrived at Andrews Air Force Base on Monday, the official Kuwait News Agency reported.

Also, Qatar's emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is scheduled to depart Monday to take part in the meeting.

So much for the Kumbaya Cairo speech, eh??
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

You're right.  He will try to seek revenge, one way or the other.

He's a vindictive little punk.

White House: If Saudis Were Sending a Snub, ‘That Message Was Not Received’

Quote
White House press secretary Josh Earnest said today that if King Salman changing his mind against coming to Washington this week was supposed to send a message to the administration, “that message was not received.”

Earnest insisted that “all the feedback that we’ve received from the Saudis has been positive.”

Obama Can’t Get Arab Countries to Show Up to Arab Summit in Support of Iran Deal

Posted By Daniel Greenfield On May 11, 2015 @ 1:41 pm In The Point | 19 Comments

obama-bowed [1]

There’s a little problem with Obama’s summit to create Arab support for his deal to let Iran go nuclear. The Arabs aren’t on board.

The obvious attempt to offset Israeli opposition by relying on the Arabs was never going to work. The only Gulf Arab country deranged enough to want a nuclear Iran is ISIS’ sugar daddy Qatar. And it’s also about the only Gulfie boss showing up [2].

Saudi Arabia’s monarch pulled out of a summit to be hosted by President Barack Obama on Thursday, in a blow to the White House’s efforts to build Arab support for a nuclear accord with Iran.

King Salman’s decision appeared to ripple across the Persian Gulf. Bahrain said on Sunday that its ruler, King Hamad bin Isaa Al Khalifa, had opted not to travel to Washington.

Bahrain is basically a client state of Saudi Arabia and if the Saudis hadn’t saved the Bahrain royals from the Arab Spring with tanks, Iran would be running the place the way Obama wanted it. The odds of Bahrain bucking the Saudis to support Obama and Iran are nil.

The only two monarchs from the six countries confirmed to attend the summit at the White House and the presidential retreat at Camp David, Md., were the emirs of Qatar and Kuwait.

Qatar seems to have a firm “Let it burn” policy, backing Al Qaeda, Hamas and ISIS, while also being willing to climb on board this.

Senior Arab officials involved in organizing the meeting said not enough progress had been made in narrowing differences with Washington on issues like Iran and Syria to make the Saudi ruler’s trip worth it.

“There isn’t substance for the summit,” said an Arab official who has held discussions with the Obama administration in recent days.

Translation, Obama isn’t offering anything except worthless military assurances and the Saudis aren’t Israel.

Secretary of State John Kerry met with King Salman on Thursday in Riyadh to discuss the Camp David agenda, U.S. officials said. He then met with the GCC’s foreign ministers in Paris, where he offered to give the GCC countries non-NATO major-ally status, said a senior U.S. official. But the Arab diplomats showed “very, very tepid interest,” the official added.

“It’s something we’re prepared to consider, and we had raised it with them,” the U.S. official said. “But they seemed to think it was not that critical or even important a step.”

They’re not stupid. If Obama won’t stand up for the Marshall Islands, is he going to stand up for them over a piece of paper? The Saudis know how to use oil as leverage. That’s what they trust.

Some of the Arab states said they were hoping the GCC could sign a mutual defense treaty with Washington, similar to South Korea’s and Japan’s.

Such treaties would bind the U.S. to defend the Persian Gulf states if they faced Iranian aggression.

The White House, however, didn’t believe it could win congressional approval to back such a treaty, said U.S. and Arab officials involved in the discussions.

So if Obama is offering a meaningless gesture that seems important, they’ll send large delegations, a crown prince or two, for another meaningless gesture that seems important. That’s the middle eastern way of doing things.

Smart power.
