North Korea warms to Russia, with preparations for Kim visit to Moscow

SE0UL — North Korea has stepped up efforts to bolster relations with Russia, which has impacted calculations by China and South Korea on their ties the reclusive nation.

Top Pyongyang officials have visited Moscow as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and prepare for leader Kim Jong-Un’s trip to Russia in May, diplomatic sources here say.
Challenged by Russia’s mounting influence on Pyongyang, China has recently decided to improve its strained ties with North Korea by resuming economic aid, according to the top newspaper here, Chosun Ilbo.
In another move to mend ties, China has invited Kim Jong-Un to a Chinese military parade on Sept. 3, marking the end of World War II, which will be presided over by President Xi Jinping, Seoul’s Yonhap news Agency said, citing diplomatic sources in Beijing.
