Who knew Hillary Clinton could make Richard Nixon look good?
Like Nixon, the president who resigned in disgrace rather than be impeached over the Watergate scandal and 18 1⁄2 minutes of blank audiotape — Clinton has been embroiled in her own “missing” work scandal.
It was bad enough that while secretary of state — under President Obama’s watch — Clinton violated the rules, and possibly the Federal Records Act, by operating her own private email server system in her home rather than using the government email system.
Now we learn that not only has Clinton deleted more than 30,000 emails, but her non-governmental server has since been wiped clean. This is despite the ongoing congressional investigation into the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, subpoenas and multiple Freedom of Information Act requests from a variety of parties.
“We learned today, from her attorney, Secretary Clinton unilaterally decided to wipe her server clean and permanently delete all emails from her personal server,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said in a statement Friday.
“While it is not clear precisely when Secretary Clinton decided to permanently delete all emails from her server, it appears she made the decision after October 28, 2014, when the Department of State for the first time asked the Secretary to return her public record to the Department,” said the chairman of the Select Committee on Benghazi.
Clinton’s attorney David Kendall has confirmed his client’s emails are gone.
There’s mounting suspicion that Hillary Clinton is hiding information that could be damaging to her presidential aspirations because if she didn’t do anything wrong, why didn’t she allow an independent third party to review her emails and do an analysis of her server? There’s more contained in her email communications while secretary of state than innocuous yoga schedules and Chelsea’s wedding plans, that’s for sure.
Those blank audiotapes were President Nixon’s downfall. Hillary Clinton now has years of sensitive — if not classified — work in the form of tens of thousands of emails that have gone “missing.” How is she getting away with this?
Servers are normally backed up daily, so Gowdy needs to find the backup files and see if they’ve been deleted or tampered with. If so, Democrats need to find a new White House front runner ASAP.
Here’s the deal. We can’t have two sets of rules. We cannot tolerate a “royalty branch” of government or an “anointed class” that’s allowed to act above the law or skirt the rules.
Hillary Clinton is a public servant, not a queen. Perhaps she deleted the memo.
