Teacher Beats Up 1st Grader, Steals His Taco

This is either an example of Common Core gone wrong or First Lady Michelle Obama’s campaign to make lunch suck for school children. A Louisiana teacher was caught on surveillance tape physically abusing a 1st grade boy and stealing his lunch.
Chanel M. Lemelle, a teacher at Bains Lower Elementary School in West Feliciana Parish has resigned after witnesses and video evidence show that she assaulted a male student in the cafeteria during lunch break.
The Advocate reports that police have spoken to witnesses and reviewed the video, coming up with a story that goes like this:
A sheriff’s deputy who reviewed camera footage of the incident wrote in a report that as the student walked by Chanel Lemelle in the cafeteria, she could be seen kicking him in the rear. The video also showed her slapping the boy on the back of the head, the deputy wrote.
Another witness said Lemelle was seen angrily waving a stick at the child.
This first part is why I think this may be related to Common Core: “I kicked you in the ass and slapped you upside the head. What is the atomic weight of cobalt? FYI, the answer is: Mary Queen of Scotts.
And things just got worse from there:
A witness told deputies that Chanel Lemelle was “yelling at one student in particular in a loud and degrading manner because he was not walking like he was supposed to,” the deputy wrote in the report.
Witnesses told the investigator that Chanel Lemelle forced the student to sit at a lunch table by himself while his classmates went through the food line in the cafeteria. After all his classmates got food, Chanel Lemelle allowed the student to get food, the witnesses said.
But when the student returned, Chanel Lemelle allegedly took one of his tacos and told the student “he only needed one taco,” a deputy wrote in the report.
See, Michelle Obama’s “terrible lunch” initiative. Obviously this student chose a lunch with too much sodium and not enough fruits and veggies.
As it turns out, the incident was neither Common Core nor FLOTUS related. The teacher is just a mooch:
The witnesses told the deputy that Chanel Lemelle often brought an empty plate to lunch and filled it with food from her students.
Lemelle was manufacturing a discipline situation so she could get some free food. It’s a plan so devious it could have come from a James Bond film super villain. Unfortunately for Lemelle, super villains rarely succeed, just ask Dr. No or Goldfinger. The ass-kicking food-stealing teacher not only resigned, but police have charged her with cruelty to a juvenile.
Her lawyer, who also happens to work for her father, who also happens to be a former federal prosecutor, had this to say:
“She’s devastated,” Cazayoux said. “She loves her students and she would never do anything intentionally to hurt any of them.”
Yes, nothing says love like a kick in the ass, a smack to the head, and taco theft.
