One of James Bulger’s killers has joined a dating website using a different name.

The Sunday Mirror revealed through an investigation that Jon Venables has joined a site under a new name, and will be able to connect with potential partners, giving them no indication of his past.

He also reportedly lists his best attribute on his dating profile as his sense of humour.

The name being used by Venables, and even the name of the site he will be using cannot be revealed, however this new development comes just five years after he admitted downloading and distributing child abuse material.

Following the public outcry that followed his release from prison after serving just two years for this crime, James Bulger’s mother Denise Fergus said Venables was a ‘danger to the public’.

Venables’ dating profile was discovered by investigative reporter and child protection expert Mark Williams-Thomas who was working with the Sunday Mirror.

He said: ‘The horrific nature of James’s murder should mean that his killers should remain under constant supervision and be unable to freely roam the internet.

‘But this is not happening.’

Venables came to the attention of the public when he, along with friend Robert Thompson, abducted, tortured and killed toddler James Bulger in 1993 when they were just ten-years-old.

After being convicted of the crime both boys were jailed until they turned 18, at which point they were given new identities.
