KIEV, January 5. /TASS/. Nobody was hurt in an explosion that took place in Ukraine’s Black Sea port city of Odessa late Sunday evening, the press service of the Odessa region’s Interior department said on Monday.

The police said the perpetrator who planted the bomb targeted a city non-governmental organisation. “The explosion [in the NGO office in a one-storey building] destroyed the office doors, also damaging windows in nearby houses. Nobody has been hurt,” the press service said.

According to local media reports, the building houses the co-ordination centre of assistance to Ukrainian security forces that are engaged in a military operation in the country’s southeast.

Law enforcement officials have preliminarily qualified the incident as a terror act.

Last December, Odessa saw a string of explosions, including one of them inside an office building in the city centre. On December 24, a bomb went off at the Zastava-1 station of the Odessa Railway when a train was passing by. Another powerful explosion occurred in an Odessa suburb on December 26, killing a man and smashing windows in nearby buildings.
