Obama, McConnell to meet Wednesday

By David McCabe

President Obama will meet Wednesday with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) at the White House.

The meeting will follow an afternoon lunch with Vice President Joe Biden. The White House did not say what the two men will talk about, and the conversation is closed to the press.

It comes at a time when Congress is hoping to pass spending measures that would keep the government funded into the coming year. House Republicans have said they are likely to pass an omnibus bill as well as a measure that would only fund the Department of Homeland Security for the short-term.

Republicans believe the latter will give them some leverage over the White House as they protest Obama’s executive action on immigration.

McConnell is still fresh off his successful bid to recapture the Senate for Republicans and become Majority Leader. He was part of a post-election meeting between congressional leaders and Obama in November.

And the cheese eating surrender monkey from Kentucky will ask Obama, "what can we do for you today?"
