(Reuters) - Two female Louisiana high school teachers have been arrested on charges of engaging in group sex with a 16-year-old male student who then bragged to classmates, authorities said on Thursday.

Rachel Respess, 24, and Shelley Dufresne, 32, are accused of having sex with the boy in Respess' apartment in the New Orleans suburb of Kenner after a Friday night football game on Sept. 12, Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser said.

Dufresne also is accused of having sex with the student at her home in Montz, about 20 miles (32 km) west of New Orleans.

The boy, who has since turned 17, told authorities that the sex was consensual, but he was not of legal age to consent, Glaser said.

According to Dufresne’s school profile, she is a Louisiana State University and Destrehan High alum. She is in her 10th year at the school, is married with three young children and is the daughter of St. Charles Parish Judge Emile St. Pierre.

I grew up in a different time, where boys didn't become 'ruined for life', as they say, by stuff like this. When I was 16, just the idea of doing a teacher was too hot to even think about, much less actually do. I would have had a heart attack.
 
The idea of doing two of them, when I am sixteen and full of spit and vinegar? Just the idea of that makes me salute the flag still today, and I am well past all that stuff at this point. They would be wasting their time with me now.

Is that not sexism? Surely whatever psychological damage may have occurred if the student had been female would also occur in the opposite situation. Is a 16 year old girl somehow less aware or less of a sexual being than a 16 year old male?

All we have established so far is that the only difference is the gender. What other difference is there that could make one more grotesque than the other? You say it is not a matter of better or worse, but clearly you and other people here have very different responses depending on the genders. Is it worse when the teachers are male for no other reason than the fact that they are male? Is it not as bad when the teachers are female for no other reason than the fact that they are female?
