Seriously folks, I'm waiting to hear that the South American version of the ebola virus hits. Ebola is carried by primates, and African "bush meat", ala monkey, lemur, chimp, gorilla or any other African bush meat source is what has contributed to the spread of this all over Africa and is also a prime candidate for importing it directly into the UK and Europe.
We heard today that one of the strains in Africa is a new mutation of the virus that has never been seen before. That means existing ebola protocols and treatments likely will not work. How long can it be until we see this same kind of virus make its way into the US via the border through illegals infected with a new South American strain?? The incubation period is three weeks, and in the initial stages ebola resembles flu, and is virulently contagious.
The death toll in Africa is approaching 1,000 and the infections continue to mount. Obama talked about sending "first responders". He's late to the party because the real first responders are dying like flies in Africa while he holds news conferences in DC.
This will continue until (if) the infection finally burns itself out in six months or so, but there is no telling how many deaths that will cause because nobody is taking the lead in any serious attempt to head this off.
