Overland Park – Senator Roberts is at it again. Today his campaign attempted to leverage Senator Roberts’ position on the powerful Senate Select Committee on Ethics to intimidate his primary challenger.
Roberts is attempting to use this distraction to hide from his deplorable voting record which includes:
•11 Votes to raise the debt ceiling
•A vote just this year for Barack Obama’s $600 Billion tax increase
•Two crucial votes to put Kathleen Sebelius in charge of ObamaCare
Senator Roberts is also attempting to hide from the voters his long history of ignoring election law. The Federal Election Commission has constantly had to request that he adequately report debts, loans, funds transferred between committees, and information on contributions and expenditures made to and by his candidate committee. They have also had to constantly request that he not accept more than the federal contribution limits.
As a member of the select committee on ethics and a four decade occupant of Washington, Senator Roberts should have a better understanding of the rules.
Currently, Senator Roberts has a member of his federal staff using a taxpayer funded official government email address as contact information for him in his capacity as a Republican Party County Chairman, for Barber County Kansas. Supporting documentation is attached.
This behavior is typical of a career politician. Roberts’ doesn’t feel like the rules should apply to him or his staff, and he will use the power he has amassed over four decades in Washington to intimidate anyone who would dare to challenge him.
The fact of the matter is, Dr. Wolf’s personal financial disclosure is nearly complete, and the extra time has been taken in the interest of full disclosure and transparency. While candidates have 30 days to file from the start of their campaign, there is a built in 30 day grace period which has not expired. That 30-day grace period is clearly identified in Chapter 5 of the Senate Ethics Manual. Dr. Wolf’s Personal Financial Disclosure will be filed before the end of the grace period. I would hope that as a sitting member of the ethics committee, Senator Roberts has read the Senate Ethics Manual.
Our campaign has and will remain in full compliance with the Federal Election Commission and Dr. Wolf will not be lectured to or intimidated by the bullying tactics of a desperate career politician who has a long pattern of ethics discrepancies during his four decades in Washington, particularly one whose votes for tax increases, earmark spending, debt ceiling increases and Kathleen Sebelius have hurt so many Kansas families.
