New York Liberal's "compassion" killed a man

 Rhamell Burke, age 32, was indicted for second degree murder after prosecutors and police said he came up behind 76 year old Ross Falzone at the 18th Street subway station in Chelsea (Manhattan) on May 7, 2026, and shoved him down the stairs without provocation. Falzone died hours later at Bellevue Hospital from severe head trauma and a brain bleed.

The Daily Caller, Daily Wire, and Daily Mail — explicitly state that Burke’s previous victim  was a 23 year old woman who spoke to the New York Post anonymously.
Key facts from the reporting:
•   She was 23 years old.
•   She and a friend were attacked by Rhamell Burke on April 2 in a Manhattan subway car.
•   Police arrested Burke immediately at West 4th Street–Washington Square Station.
•   She declined to cooperate with prosecutors because, in her words: "I don't want to put another black man in prison."
•   Weeks later, Burke allegedly shoved 76 year old Ross Falzone down the stairs, killing him.
•   After the murder, she told the NY Post she regrets her decision 100%

Refuting “Extraordinary Claims Require Extraordinary Evidence”

People repeat Carl Sagan’s slogan as if it were a law of nature. But it isn’t a law. It isn’t a principle of logic. It isn’t a rule of science. It’s a preference — and one that collapses under real examples.
Let’s look at three categories where “extraordinary claims” require nothing extraordinary at all.

1. Extraordinary Claims Often Require Only Ordinary Evidence
Example 1: The Existence of Black Holes
Before 1970, the idea that stars collapse into infinitely dense points was extraordinary. But the evidence was ordinary:
•   light curves
•   radio emissions
•   orbital wobble
Nothing “extraordinary.” Just normal data interpreted correctly.

Example 2: Plate Tectonics
Continents drifting thousands of miles? That was considered absurd for decades.
The evidence that proved it?

Example 3: Germ Theory
Invisible organisms causing disease? Extraordinary claim.

2. Ordinary Claims Sometimes Require Extraordinary Evidence
Flip the slogan around and it becomes even more embarrassing.

Example 4: “This drug is safe.”
Ordinary claim. But it requires:

•   statistical significance
•   FDA review
Extraordinary evidence.

Example 5: “This bridge will not collapse.”
Ordinary claim. But it requires:
•   stress tests
•   engineering models
•   simulations

Example 6: “This person is innocent.”
Ordinary claim. But in court, it requires:
•   witnesses
•   forensic evidence
•   cross examination
•   documentation
Extraordinary evidence.
Conclusion: The slogan fails in both directions.

The truth is simple:
Claims require appropriate evidence. And the evidence we have — cosmological, biological, psychological, and experiential — fits a Creator far better than it fits atheism.
