They could be looking at a potential "cascade effect" which would take out the entire building and damage surrounding ones.

We watch a show on Wednesdays on the Science Channel called "Engineering Catastrophes." I hope one of the producers is keeping an eye on this one, because it looks like a future episode.

Saw this story on the noon news, and I think it's the building where my sister-in-law used to work. We visited her office several years ago on a trip to NYC.
