SOF News Weekly Brief – June 1, 2026
June 1, 2026 John Friberg Update 0

Executive Summary
This weekly briefing summarizes developments in special operations forces (SOF), global conflicts, intelligence, and national security from the past week. Several articles below focus on SOF Week 2026, one of the premier annual gatherings of the global special operations community held in May 2026.

It appears that negotiations may be moving toward a temporary agreement regarding the Iran conflict. Not all the details are known. As usual, the supporters and detractors of the deal have jumped in with their opinions of the proposed agreement. It will not likely achieve all of the objectives of the Trump administration, but could bring a halt to the conflict and ‘open’ up the Strait of Hormuz relieving the pressure on the global economy.

Latest News on Iran! Iran announced on Monday, June 1, that it will move to close the Strait of Hormuz and stop exchanging messages with the United States through intermediaries. It has accused the Trump administration and Israel of ceasefire violations. Over the weekend (May 30/31) CENTCOM conducted self-defense strikes on Iranian radar and command and control sites for drones in Goruk, Iran and Qeshm Island.

The tide could be turning to Ukraine’s favor in the more than four-year conflict due to Ukraine’s ability to out-class the Russians in drone warfare. The Special Forces Association is holding their annual conference in Fort Walton Beach in early June. Turkey continues to expand its influence in the Horn of Africa, assisting Somalia with its armed forces training. An ex-CIA official was arrested for having about $40 million in gold bars in his house that belonged to the CIA.

Why would the CIA have $40 million+ in gold?  Seriously, that agency needs to END!!!

And I have said it before, I will say it again.  WE need to bring back capital punishment with a vengeance.  If a government can execute a man/woman for stealing a loaf of bread 150 years ago, or a horse 125 years ago, we can execute someone that defrauds or steals say $100,000 or more from the federal government.  MAKE IT PUBLIC.

DETERENT TO CRIME is never in evidence with capital punishment because we take nearly 25 years before someone sentenced to death is actually dispatched.  That is pure idiocy, courtesy of the corrupt and self serving lawyers that fill their pockets with gold along the way.  And those same stinking lawyers are the folks that control all three branches of government.

I WANT GEORGE CARLIN'S PAY PER VIEW FOR CAPITAL PUNISHMENT, AND WE NEED RULES THAT PROVIDE FOR A SPEEDY TRIAL AND AN EVEN SPEEDIER DISPATCH OF THE CONDEMNED.  i SAY ALLOW A MAXIMUM TIME OF 1-2 YEARS TO ACQUIRE AN APPEAL, AND WITHOUT IT, THE SENTENCE IS EXECUTED WITH NO STAYS FOR A MULTITUDE OF LAWYER ACCOMMODATING REASONS.

We had three horrific murders that were very visible to all in the USA, Charlie Kirk, the Ukrainian girl in Charlotte, and the healthcare executive in New york, and not one of the perps have been brought to trial.  It should NOT take years to bring justice to the folks that committed these murders.
