FBI raids Spanberger ally office as federal corruption probe targets cannabis business

The FBI has raided the office of a powerful Virginia Democratic lawmaker and ally of Gov. Abigail Spanberger as part of a federal corruption and illegal marijuana sale probe, Fox News has learned.

Longtime state Sen. L. Louise Lucas, a major power broker in Virginia politics who stumped for Spanberger on the campaign trail in 2025, is now at the center of a major FBI corruption probe, according to federal law enforcement sources.

I think Bondi was stuck in that place where Republicans think they have to be nice to the Democrats. They delude themselves with nonsense, thinking that they can be above the fray when in fact , they are the target of it.

Part of why I like the president and people like him is because they are fighters and this is a fight.

The search at Virginia Sen. L. Louise Lucas’s district office in Portsmouth comes after the Democrat helped lead the state’s recent redistricting effort.

The FBI said only that it was conducting a court-authorized search warrant in Portsmouth. The person who confirmed the FBI’s search was not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation by name and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Besides the search at Lucas’ office, agents in FBI T-shirts also went into the nearby Cannabis Outlet, which she opened in 2021. Several entrances to its cannabis store parking lot were blocked by unmarked vehicles with flashing blue lights. ...

Lucas owns the weed shop. The investigation - whatever it's about - began during the Biden Administration.
Gov. Spyberger is all, "Who? Never heard of her."

Okay...anybody want to chirp in??

My guess is that there was direct access to the cannabis dispensary from HER office.

This way, since cannabis is a cash business, she could skim a fortune...so long as she erased the day's video camera data before Opening for business the next morning.

It appears she funneled campaign money into the her private cannabis business. I understand her business partner also is under investigation.

We have dispensaries here, for those who have a medical card.

But it would not be hard to have 'extra' and 'undocumented' shipments come in and go out, and still document the legitimate business. If something extra gets intercepted, it's just going to the dispensary right?

The Upton indictment here appears to be related to the Hampton Roads cannabis stores the FBI is going after today.
Per court records, the charges are related to questionable pandemic loans.
One was for Virginia Freedom Life LLC, the legal entity that owns The Cannabis Outlet
