Trucker Caught Smuggling 22 Illegals in Semi Cab
Border authorities located nearly two dozen illegal aliens crammed into the cab of a big rig in Texas.
U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) Chief Michael Banks shared photos and information about the stunning bust on Friday.
USBP agents, working alongside the Laredo Police Department, pulled over a suspicious semi truck on Interstate 35.
Inside the sleeper cab they found 22 illegals, including two unaccompanied minors.
While one of the passengers hailed from Guatemala, the rest were Mexican nationals.
The driver, a U.S. citizen, was arrested and faces alien smuggling charges.
“This is the grim reality of human smuggling—people crammed into unsafe spaces, with no regard for their safety,” Chief Banks stated.
“We continue to target, arrest, and prosecute human smugglers to the fullest extent of the law.”
A day earlier, a smuggler driving a sedan full of illegals tried to bypass an immigration checkpoint in Laredo, but USBP agents located the vehicle at a gas station and took all five occupants into custody.
