Russian Tankers Headed for Cuba — What Actually Arrived?

The Last Wire

Two Russian tankers are stirring the waters near Cuba, but the real story of what they delivered is far from clear.

One vessel carries crude oil, the other diesel, yet reports from maritime trackers, international media, and analysts conflict. Some suggest deliveries may have already occurred. Others indicate course changes or diversions.

The situation is complicated by tightened U.S. sanctions, logistical challenges, and Cuba’s worsening energy crisis, leaving questions about who benefits, who risks penalties, and what actually reaches the island. Early reporting, including claims from widely cited sources, may overstate or misinterpret events.

This evolving story sits at the intersection of geopolitics, energy scarcity, and sanctions enforcement. What happens next could reshape how sanctioned shipments are tracked and challenged.

@Luis Gonzalez ,

I heard somewhere that Cuba just suffered a substantial earthquake. I wonder if the tankers were allowed past the blockade for humanitarian purpose... What about that?

None have passed the blockade, to the best of my knowledge.

The Sea Turtle docked in Trinidad.

If they do, they are ancient.

The ship carrying diesel is still in the Atlantic.

Gracias!

There’s a way to track the super tanker, the Sea Horse dropped their cargo in Trinidad.

BTW. The Sea Horse is flagged out of Hong Kong. I am sure they want no issues with the US government so they went to Trinidad.

The Kolodkin is flagged in Russia. That’s the one they will use to test the blockade.
