Anyone who thinks the Rothschild family is still relevant in the 21st century is misinformed and/or just a nut.
Anyone who bothers to acknowledge the established pattern of conduct for the Rothschild family knows not to dismiss their power and influence quite so cavalierly.

It is entirely possible that the family exercises unified control of banking enterprises and other industries via shell companies and other false fronts that give an illusion of diverse ownership. My family does this on a much smaller level through trusts, LLC's, and other legal entities. It makes sense that the Rothschilds would avail themselves of these same protections.
Considering that the family maintains a wall of secrecy into the present day then it must also be concluded that they control the kinds of resources sufficient to maintain the integrity of that wall of secrecy. Legions of lawyers, bribed politicians, friends in high places, and well paid armed guards all operating at a nation-state level of tradecraft to protect their patrons.
In short, the Rothschilds are still the most powerful banking family in the world and sources both far and wide confirm this as stipulated fact.
You may dismiss discussions about them as the product of whackjob conspiracists yet I would contend that your opinions are the net result of a carefully curated media campaign by a powerful family that seeks secrecy. The Rothschilds no doubt have produced many wild stories about themselves in order to preemptively discredit any legitimate stories about them.
Encouraging people to mock and ridicule anyone interested in penetrating that wall of secrecy would be yet another means to protect that wall of secrecy.
