SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — Karen Pohl showed up bright and early Monday morning at the Edward Schwartz Federal Building in downtown San Diego to begin her volunteer shift at the facility’s immigration check-in area.

On a normal day, she would’ve gone inside and straight to the second floor to interact and guide people arriving for their appointments.

Part of her job also includes recording apprehensions and how they were conducted.

But since late last week, she and other volunteers have been placed on notice, told they can no longer monitor hallways or be at the check-in area.
