The future of the Republican Party
We’re witnessing a transformation of both major political parties. What will they look like on the other side?

In a recent article here at American Thinker, Mark Malaszczyk wrote that the MAGA movement “staged an ideological hostile takeover of the Republican Party.” Evidently, in his view, this is not a change for the better. He draws a contrast between what he refers to as the “normie” or traditionalist wing of the Republican Party and a hypothetical post-MAGA Republican Party.
Michael Goodwin, writing at the New York Post at about the same time, said, “The Democratic Party We Once Knew Is Dead.” We can readily agree with Goodwin that the party we once knew is dead, but it is certainly not dead and gone. What has replaced it? How are we to understand this strange new ideology that has taken over the Democrats with so little opposition from party stalwarts?
I think Jeff Minick gets it just right:
The real battle being fought in America today is not between the right and the left. It is a battle between common sense and nonsense.
If Minick is correct, a Republican return to the traditional political battle lines promises a grim and grimmer future for Republicans and for America.
