You know it's a tough housing market when a rat squats on your porch.

Boston woman flummoxed after rat makes a home in stroller she left on porch
Boston Reddit did not mince words when it came to the best way of evicting this brazen stroller squatter.

A Boston woman is dealing with an unwelcome tenant on her front porch — a rat that has turned a baby stroller into a cozy winter hideaway.

The woman shared her ordeal Thursday on the r/Boston subreddit, explaining that she had left her stroller, complete with a muff, on her second-floor porch. When she checked on it later, she discovered a rat had moved in.

“I stupidly left our stroller with a muff out on the porch,” she wrote. “Today I found a big rat is nested in there. I can’t see clearly, but it seems it has chewed up the muff lining and is using the filling for a nest.” ...

I was expecting a different kinda Rat moving in.

Like the chipmunks around here. They'll make a nest out of anything, anywhere.

Well, I hate to tell this lady, but long term baiting boxes are very effective. I had a rat infestation that included them chewing wires in my attic and disabling my furnace. I wanted immediate action when I called the exterminator (after trying to DYI) 8888madkitty Not just now...but yesterday.

Frankly, I was skeptical. How are these bait boxes outside of the house going to cure the inside of the house problem? The fact that the exterminator looked like he was about 10 years old didn't help. But guess what? It evidently worked. Quickly! So now he comes every other month and refills the boxes, sprays the inside of the house AND the outside. The only stray bug I have seen is a cricket.

Bait boxes really really work. We had wood rats in our back yard. Plinking them with my .22 was not an option.  The HOA and locals frown upon weapons discharges!   They all were gone in weeks.

The problem with poisonous bate is something else comes along and eats the rat.

I used to care about that sort thing but now....

If it comes down to me or them, it's gonna be me.
