1 killed, 3 injured in Denver shooting at celebration of Venezuelan President Maduro’s capture: Police
DENVER (KDVR) — Denver police are investigating a deadly Saturday night shooting in southeast Denver that killed one person and injured three others while people were celebrating the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
The shooting happened near East Hampden Avenue and South Galena Street, police said in an 11 p.m. Saturday X post. A spokesperson told FOX31 the shooting happened in a parking lot in the area during what police said was a celebration in response to the U.S. operation that removed the Venezuelan president who oversaw democratic and economic collapse in the South American country.
Police originally said one person was taken to a hospital with an unknown extent of injuries, but at 7:45 a.m. Sunday said they had found three more victims, including the one who died.
An update by the police on Sunday afternoon confirmed that the person who was killed was a 16-year-old male, and the person who was taken to the hospital is in critical condition.
