LI thieves swipe $50K worth of Christmas gifts meant for needy children: 'I just started crying'
Story by David Propper • 17h
Cruel-hearted Long Island thieves swiped $50,000 in Christmas toys meant for hundreds of needy kids, said the weeping head of the nonprofit running the charity.
Toys of Hope in Huntington said it was about to start doling out the gifts to children across downstate New York when the kindly dose of much-needed holiday cheer was stolen from a parking lot Friday night into Saturday.
“I immediately pulled up, and I thought I was imagining things — I just started crying,” group founder Melissa Doktofsky told The Post on Tuesday.
“I was gut-punched, my heart ripped open. I could not believe what I was seeing.”

I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

Security would have been a plus...Armed security, even better.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Huntington is about 20 miles east of NYC on Long Island.
I used to visit someone there in the '80's. It seemed ok then, though my friend said there were a few rough areas. Must have grown worse since...
