More than 800 suspected gang members arrested
Story by Roger Anderson • 17h
Federal agents, led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and supported by the FBI and U.S. Border Patrol, have reportedly arrested over 800 suspected members of the Tren de Aragua gang as part of “Operation Midway Blitz” since September.
The Trump administration said the operation is targeting organized crime networks with the hope of curbing violence, recently using a Black Hawk helicopter to target residential areas. However, local officials have criticized the effort, arguing the operation is fueling the intimidation of immigrant communities.
Federal officials have begun narrowing and clarifying the scope of Operation Midway Blitz, emphasizing that arrests are based on criminal warrants and gang-related intelligence rather than broad immigration sweeps.
