Tucker Carlson has revealed the young man who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, last year had a long record of espousing political violence.

Comments posted by Thomas Crooks to YouTube from 2019 to 2020 show a detailed digital trail of violent threats that included calls for assassination and political violence, despite the Federal Bureau of Investigation's repeated claims otherwise, according to a mini-documentary Carlson released Friday morning.   

The posts were made by Crooks - who was 20 when he was shot dead - when he was between 15 and 17 years old, Carlson's expose claims.   

The deep-dive investigation from the former Fox News stemmed from a tip he said he received from an anonymous source who had gained access to Crooks' wiped social media accounts.

The posts reveal Crooks to be a Trump supporter whose views on the president moved to the radical left during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The FBI lied about that fact, Carlson claims, citing that Crooks has since been framed by the agency as right-wing in what little information had been released about him.

Carlson also pointed to an exchange he said Crooks had with a person affiliated with a Swedish far-right organization designated by the US as a terrorist group, after which his posts stopped and his digital footprint disappeared.

The YouTube user, named Willy_Tepes, appeared to start pressuring Crooks to commit violence at this stage.

We are all owed a better explanation from the FBI and Secret Service about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump 16 months ago at a campaign rally in Butler, Pa.

The president himself remains unsatisfied with the answers he’s been given about the circumstances leading to 20-year-old Thomas Crooks climbing on a rooftop with an AR-15-style rifle and firing eight times at Trump, narrowly missing his head but hitting his ear. ...

There is something very wrong with the official story and that invites conspiracy theories.  ...

Thanks to an enterprising source who uncovered Crooks’ hidden digital footprint, we can see that Abbate misled Congress by omission, because he left out an entire section of Crooks’ online interactions from January to August 2020 when he did an ideological backflip and went from rabidly pro-Trump to rabidly anti-Trump and then went dark, never seeming to post again.

Among the 17 accounts uncovered by our source were ones on YouTube, Snapchat, Venmo, Zelle, GroupMe, Discord, Google Play, Quizlet, Chess.com and Quora.

The online interactions from when Crooks was ages 15 to 17 give us a better understanding of his evolution into an assassin, and invite more questions about what — or who — reversed his ideology.

Wray's deputy Paul Abbate said that comments from Crooks' social media accounts “appear to reflect antisemitic and anti-immigration themes to espouse political violence and are described as extreme in nature.”

However, that did not tell the whole story of Crook's views, as he reportedly went from being a pro-Trump to an anti-Trump ideologue during 2020, but seemed to go dark afterwards. ...

He spoke openly of political assassination, posted under his real name and was even flagged by other users who mentioned law enforcement in their replies.
