Walmart employee dies after being struck by shoplifting suspect
Story by H. Rose Schneider • 13h

WILTON - A 69-year-old Saratoga Springs man died Monday, weeks after he was struck by a man fleeing a Walmart he'd allegedly stolen from, State Police confirmed.

Michael Bushey was working the night of Oct. 16 at Walmart in Wilton when 34-year-old Timothy W. Besaw drove his vehicle into a group standing at the entrance of the store, striking Bushey and one other employee, State Police said. Bushey later died at Albany Medical Center.

Besaw was stopped earlier that night trying to leave the store with stolen items, then left wearing other items he had stolen, troopers said. State Police spokeswoman Trooper Stephanie O'Neil said he was known to employees for having recently entered the store and possibly stolen items multiple times. Besaw argued and yelled at the employees in the parking lot before allegedly getting in his vehicle and driving at the group, ultimately striking two employees.

If NY were smart like California and make shoplifting under $900 (I think it is) a non-crime, things like this wouldn't happen. *****rollingeyes*****
