I'll go with #1.  Trump gave  Iran a 10 day ultimatum....so  March  1.

Chickening out?   Trump would be a fool. That would send a clear message to Iran and the rest of the region that they can do whatever they want regardless of what the U.S. 'threatens'.

But he already did.  He very publicly told the protestors who were calling for the overthrow of the Mullahs (with at least some of the calling for the return of the Shah) that "Help is on its way," then sat back while the IRGC and Basji slaughtered tens of thousands of the opponents of the regime and arrested more.  Now he wants a "deal" that won't help the people of Iran at all, and would leave the "Death to America!" fanatics in control.
