Greta Thunberg Ousted from Activist Role
Story by Grace Hall • 11h

Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been removed from the Steering Committee of the Global Sumud Flotilla due to ongoing disputes. This decision has sparked pushback from participants, who reportedly feel the group is focusing too much on internal issues. Spokesperson Yusuf Omar has stepped down from on-board duties but noted he will continue to support the mission externally.

Thunberg said, “We all have a role: mine will not be on the board, but as an organizer and participant.”

Thunberg added, “I very much believe in the goal of this humanitarian mission, as well as the power and symbolism in the mobilisation we see worldwide for a free Palestine.”

The flotilla has faced delays and logistical issues, returning to port due to storms and later stalling in Tunisia over fuel and alleged bureaucracy.
