They Never Learn: Chicagoland Sanctuary Politicians Continue to Sabotage the Rule of Law

Given out-of-control crime and illegal immigration, a reasonable person could expect that places like the Chicago area plagued by these problems would jump at the chance when offered federal law enforcement assistance to clean up the mess. Unfortunately, reason, logic, and respect for the rule of law seem to have no place in so-called sanctuary jurisdictions. Instead, these localities, and the anti-borders, soft-on-crime politicians who run them, prefer to protect illegal aliens – including violent criminals – rather than their own citizens.
President Trump considered deploying the National Guard to the Chicago area to stem crime and step up immigration enforcement by supporting ICE, mirroring his crackdown in Washington, D.C. On September 12, the president chose to instead deploy the National Guard to Memphis, Tennessee, while leaving open the possibility of a Chicagoland deployment in the near future.
Nevertheless, the promised ICE enforcement operations are still ongoing and expected to continue, to the chagrin of out-of-touch sanctuary politicians and radical activists. Since September 6, the targeted ICE operation – known as Operation “Midway Blitz” (which covers all of Illinois and Lake County, Indiana) – has resulted in the apprehension of 250 foreign nationals. “In just the last few days in Chicago,” stated DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, “ICE has arrested pedophiles, rapists, abusers, armed robbers, and other violent thugs. These are the criminal illegal aliens Governor Pritzker, Mayor Johnson, and their fellow sanctuary politicians protect over the law-abiding American citizens.”
