According to police and sources, a Bronx man was charged on Friday with killing his girlfriend after first accusing a moped-riding couple of stabbing his girlfriend while he was using the restroom on the side of the road.

In relation to the Wednesday night killing of Anthonella Contreras Linarez on City Island, Franklin Batallas was taken into custody at 1 p.m. and charged with murder, two counts of assault, and criminal possession of a firearm, according to police.
 
Although they lack a motivation, police suspect Batallas of repeatedly stabbing Linarez. According to family and neighbors, the pair seemed to be incredibly in love and exhibited no signs of the terrible conclusion that would follow.
