Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has cut off Chinese contractors’ access to Pentagon cloud systems amid security concerns regarding the “digital escort” program. He has launched an internal investigation and ordered a third-party audit to assess potential risks and any unauthorized access. The program, which allowed foreign engineers to work on sensitive Defense Department (DoD) cloud projects under U.S. supervision, has raised concerns regarding national security and data integrity.
