DHS chief Kristi Noem highlights Illinois immigrant arrests, as Dems defend state’s legal sanctuary policies

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem traveled to Illinois on Friday to slam the state’s Democrats over sanctuary policies and to highlight four arrests of immigrants who lacked legal status and were deemed by her office as the “worst of the worst.”
The visit comes as Gov. JB Pritzker this week nabbed national attention for helping Texas Democrats take refuge in Illinois as Republican legislators in the Lone Star State try to appease President Donald Trump by adding five more GOP seats to their congressional map.
Standing in front of a cache of fentanyl, guns and cash that were recently recovered in Illinois, Noem briefly highlighted the arrests made by the Department of Homeland Security “without the help of the governor or the mayor.”
“I’m here today because the elected leaders in the state of Illinois are ignoring the law. In fact, they’re being obstructionists when it comes to getting dangerous criminals off of their streets,” Noem said at a Homeland Security building in west suburban Lombard. “They are deciding the dangerous criminals that are murderers, rapists, money launderers, have committed assault, that are trafficking children, are more important than the families that live in the communities here.”
