I like this guy, but I don't trust him on this topic.

But here he is correct. The so-called 'rods from god' are one example of an impractical weapon that would not work as conceptualized. Any rod launched toward Earth from orbit would tumble and be forced off course without a guidance system, so it may as well just be an ordinary missile with very expensive heat shielding.
