For decades, the weight of world air supremacy has rested on the shoulders of old-fashioned fighter aircraft such as the F-15C and F-15D in the U.S. Air Force. But with threats changing and older aircraft showing signs of aging, a definite decision needed to be made: continue to modernize weathered airframes or get something new to the mix.
