A soldier has been arrested on suspicion of shooting five of his colleagues at a US army base in Georgia.
Fort Stewart was locked down shortly after 11am local time over an “active shooter incident” in its 2nd Armoured Brigade Combat Team area. All those who were injured were soldiers.
The gunman was on “active military duty”, CNN reported.
Authorities named the suspect as Quornelius Radford, a sergeant assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, which is part of the 3rd Infantry Division and stationed at Fort Stewart.
All of the injured soldiers are in a stable condition and are expected to make a stable recovery, although three required surgery.
