The BEST way to sightsee in Lisbon is on top of a double deck tour bus. You will have a panaromaic view of the city which makes for easy video recording and still camera shots. Also, as you can see, the streets of Lisbon are very narrow which makes it tough for most Americans to navigate while worrying about scratching or causing even worse damage to their rental cars. The weather on the day we toured Lisbon atop the tour bus was absolutely perfect with nary a cloud in the sky. At any time you want to get off the tour bus to explore Lisbon on foot or sample its incredible food, you can later board another tour bus from the same company. They keep busses constantly in circulation so you don't have to wait long to catch a tour bus using your all day pass which sold at the time we were there for 28 Euros per person.

The bus looked like it was almost empty!
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

The bus looked like it was almost empty!

That was because we boarded it late in the afternoon. I would say the best times to board a tour bus would be between 11 AM and noon after the normal morning tourists have already gone on their tour. BTW, our tour which should have lasted only an hour went on for almost 4 hours due to heavy rush hour traffic. Also you can get off the tour bus at any stop and walk around and then later board another bus from the same company to continue the tour.

In Spain, when we travel there next year, we plan on using the tour bus method to see the various cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, etc....

Portugal is an intriguing.  Is the weather ok there in July?

I’ve started avoiding Europe in the summer.  Half of China is there taking peek-cha, oblivious to traffic or personal space.  Maybe they have not found Portugal.

I’ve started avoiding Europe in the summer.  Half of China is there taking peek-cha, oblivious to traffic or personal space.  Maybe they have not found Portugal.

I was there in second half of May. The weather was incredible. Almost every day there the sky was mostly free of clouds and the temperatures were warm to hot. Not a drop of rain the whole time there.

As to China, I wanted to troll mainland Chinese by asking everybody I thought was Chinese if they  were from Taiwan. As it turned out, everybody I asked if they were from Taiwan actually were from Taiwan. Not a Chinese person from the mainland did I meet in my whole time in Portugal.
