Amazon, Home Depot respond as Texas boycotts gain momentum
Story by Melanie Salazar • 22h

Retail giants Amazon and Home Depot are responding to a 31-day boycott of the companies, slated to begin today. The effort, led by the nonpartisan organization, People's Union USA, alleges that these companies are financially supporting the Trump administration, amid other grievances.

The call to action comes roughly a week after the group urged consumers to participate in a seven-day spending freeze at McDonald's due to the restaurant's alleged price gouging, tax dodging and overall lack of "corporate accountability." At the time, the fast food corporation said it was "disappointed to see these misleading claims" and that it was "ready to serve" customers.

With the month-long boycott of Amazon, Home Depot and Starbucks running through July 31, here's what to know about the claims, movement organizer and possible business disruptions.

If I see the word "people's" in a group's name, I automatically think communist front group.
