US immigration authorities have announced a big change that visa applicants must take a note of right now to stay aligned with future alerts and notifications related to status, appointment and more such must-know issues.

US immigration authority is switching numbers -- Big alert for visa applicants.
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is making a big switch that officially sets into motion from July 1, 2025, onwards. In a crucial press statement addressing visa applicants, American immigration officials announced that they will no longer be sending messages from their previously-recognised phone number 468-311 (GOV-311). “Our new number will be 872466 (USAIMM),” they further highlighted.

Having adopted this major revamp, the USCIS has doubled down on its focus on immigration services as the swift change is expected to help applicants easily identify official notifications amidst a growing pool of scams and unauthentic message threads. The immigration authorities have since urged applicants to save the new number as the same extent of alerts and notices will continue flowing into their chat boxes.
 
“The change is important for people who receive text updates from USCIS, such as case status alerts, appointment reminders or other notifications,” added the official statement.
