An Unusual Clue to Trouble: The Pentagon Pizza Tracker
By Ward Clark  | June 14, 2025
The nation's intelligence services, the military, and the various levels of government are always (or at least, they should be) on the lookout for signs of trouble. Those of us in the news and commentary business are likewise. The government, of course, has resources we can't begin to approach - satellites, high-flying aircraft, talented hackers, confidential informants, and so on.

As it happens, though, there may be one way to see geopolitical trouble on the horizon that may come as a surprise, and best of all, it's viewable by anyone. This prognostication method involves pizza.

Yes, really.

An X account created to track the busyness of pizza shops could have predicted a major international event.

The Pentagon Pizza Report tracks the real-time foot traffic at pizza spots near the Pentagon, hinting at officials working late at the government building, which may suggest potential conflict.

Hours before Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion,” the account posted the activity of four pizza shops, captioning the post, “Most pizza establishments near the Pentagon are currently experiencing average traffic as of about 3:05pm ET.”

The strikes took place late Thursday evening as the Pentagon Pizza Report monitored pizza shops in the Arlington, Virginia, area.

The account continued posting updates about the closest and second-closest Domino’s to the Pentagon leading up to and following the airstrikes.

A post at 8:57 p.m. reported that the location had “surged in traffic.”

Whoever came up with this idea knows how to take their brain out of neutral and start running it up through the gears. There's an inarguable logic to this; when a crisis is brewing, people in places like the Pentagon are burning that midnight oil, and they're getting hungry. They can't go home, so they order in, because, after all, people knead to eat. I've never sausage a good idea for detecting upcoming trouble.

Do you have to have a security clearance to deliver to the Pentagon? Or do buyers just meet the delivery people in the lobby?

One wonders how many unfriendly sorts may be watching this as well. It appears to have originated simply as a way to see which pizza joints were busy and which were not, but now?

“Open-source tracking of pizza spot activity around the Pentagon (and other places),” the X account’s official description reads. “Frequent-ish updates on where the lines are long.”

This is a real pizza work. What's more, it's an interesting side slice to our national intelligence-gathering process.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Pepperoni or Italian sausage? A war runs on bureaucrats stomachs.

Since over 20% of DOD are women, might have to add some pineapple to it

Pizza indicates meetings and over-time work.

Chinese food indicates a very long, late night.

Nothing sucks more than going to the vending machine at 3:00 AM, and it not having what you want or the damn thing is jammed.  Or finding out that the vending machines on another floor are 5-10 cents cheaper.

Major Pizza Order Surge Near Pentagon May Have Tipped Off Media Before Trump's Iran Strike
The Pentagon Pizza Report may have been onto something.
Mark Harris
Published June 22

A social media account dedicated to monitoring local pizza traffic near the Pentagon may have accurately predicted the United States' attack on nuclear sites in Iran about an hour before it took place.

Less than an hour before President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the U.S. military completed the attack in Iran, Pentagon Pizza Report noted "HIGH activity is being reported at the closest Papa Johns to the Pentagon."

The social media account also noted that Freddie's Beach Bar was reporting abnormally low activity for a Saturday night, which led the account to write, "Classic indicator for potential overtime at the Pentagon." The Pentagon Pizza Report followed up its original post about high pizza ordering volume by writing, "Thank you for your attention to this matter," echoing the wording in the President's post.

The pizza tracking account wasn't done there. About 30 minutes before the President addressed the nation at 10:00 PM ET, the account noted there was a "HUGE traffic surge" at the Domino's closest to MacDill Air Force Base, home of CENTCOM.

Capitol Police Investigating “Troubling” Unsolicited Pizza Deliveries to Politicians and Senior Police
by Raw Egg Nationalist
June 22nd, 2025

Capitol Police in Washington DC are investigating a series of unsolicited pizza deliveries to politicians and senior police.

“The United States Capitol Police are aware of unsolicited pizza deliveries to elected officials and U.S. Capitol Police leadership,“ the Capitol Police said in a statement.

“These recent pizza deliveries are troubling and yet again, bring to light the heightened threat landscape we are living in. Violence and threats, of any kind, targeted at elected officials will not be tolerated.”

Capitol Police have refused to release details of the deliveries, to safeguard their investigations and to “minimize the risk of copycats.”

A US District Judge whose son was shot in 2020 recently told ABC News that “hundreds of pizzas are being delivered to the personal homes of judges throughout the county.”

“We had heard about pizzas being delivered to judges’ houses, and that says what? ‘I know where you live,’” she said.

In recent months, politicians in Washington have complained of growing threats to their safety.

“The violence and threats against elected officials, including people in the Senate, has drastically increased,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said following a June 17 briefing with Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Jennifer Hemingway.

“That means we need more protection. We need more money.”
