In a series of Friday sermons in May 2025 at Masjid As-Sunnah in Kissimmee, Florida, Imam Abu Usama At-Thahabi spoke about Muslims' relationship with non-Muslims and the concept of Jihad.

In his May 16 sermon, At-Thahabi said that Jihad is part of a Muslim's manhood, emphasizing that Muslim men do not send their wives to wage Jihad on their behalf. He said that Muslims should defend their religion, not apologize for Jihad, and not be afraid of it. He added that Christians do not practice anything Jesus brought and that Jesus was not sent as a prophet to them.

In a May 2 sermon, At-Thahabi said that while individuals such as President Jimmy Carter (whom he referred to as "Peanut Man"), Mother Teresa, and Martin Luther King Jr. may have been "great personalities," they would not enter Paradise because they were born infidels and did not embrace Islam. He also called President Barack Obama a "devil," adding that Obama does not represent him or his community.

At-Thahabi further cited a hadith stating that if a Muslim is walking down the street, he should compel non-Muslims to move to the more "difficult" side of the path, in order to show them the "dominance" of Islam.
