DOJ Launches Probe Into Funders Of Left-Wing Riots After Bombshell Discovery

New evidence is prompting the Trump administration to step up its investigation into the source of funding for some of the left-wing riots rocking Los Angeles and other cities across the U.S.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said last week that the U.S. Department of Justice is searching for the parties behind anonymous online job postings promising to pay individuals hundreds of dollars if they attended pro-immigration protests in L.A., some of which descended into donnybrook and the destruction of swaths of city blocks.

In a Wednesday interview, the top Trump appointee told Fox News’ Jesse Watters that federal authorities are following the paper trail leading back to the financial sources of the riots. She also accused California Gov. Gavin Newsom of doing the bidding of Mexico’s drug cartels by failing to quell the violence before President Donald Trump intervened.

“Whether he knows it or not, he is, certainly,” she said of Newsom.

“Again, this is something that the Department of Justice and the FBI is looking into — who is funding these protesters,” Gabbard continued.

“We’ve seen the ads put up on Craigslist offering people thousands of dollars a week to go out and conduct these violent and dangerous riots in the streets of not only Los Angeles, but we saw earlier in Chicago, New York, and other cities across the country,” she added.

The AP previously reported that a Craigslist ad purporting to offer paid protestor positions was a hoax, but the question of who has funded some of the protests has remained under scrutiny by Trump officials.

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, which received at least $34 million in government funding for pro-immigration advocacy, has been linked to some of the demonstrations that started in response to a raid by U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement.  The Western Journal reports that at least $450,000 came from the Biden-era U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Under President Trump, the DHS has sought to claw back much of the money spent by CHIR, with over $100,000 still outstanding.

Last week, U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) sent a letter to an L.A.-based group demanding that it turn over financial and communication records related to its organizing of early L.A. protests.

Additionally, the AFL-CIO, the largest consortium of unions in the U.S., has been linked to the riots through an international development organization while sponsoring one of the “No Kings” rallies, which took place in Minnesota on Saturday. The rallies became a continuation of the violence seen in L.A. when an attendee was shot and killed during a “No Kings” event in Utah.

The union-sponsored event featured Gov. Tim Walz as its headliner, according to an investigator who uncovered the connection.

“Bluntly: AFL-CIO is one of the key taxpayer-funded organizations in effecting regime change all over the world,” DataRepublican wrote in summary in a lengthy thread on X. “That AFL-CIO is openly involved in sponsoring the No Kings rally should raise extreme concerns as to the rally’s true purpose.”
